FIRST MAJ. GEN. OF THE CONN. TROOPS IN THE ARMY OF THE REVOLUTION. WOUNDED AT RIDGEFIELD APRIL 27, 1777 WHILE DEFENDING THE LIBERTIES OF AMERICA, AND NOBLY DIED AT DANBURY, MAY 2, 1777. OF HIS COUNTRY WOOSTER SAID, “MY LIFE HAS BEEN EVER DEVOTED TO HER SERVICE FROM MY YOUTH UP. THOUGH NEVER BEFORE IN A CAUSE LIKE THIS-A CAUSE FOR WHICH I WOULD MOST CHEERFULLY RISK, NAY, LAY DOWN MY LIFE.”
