IN THE WAR OF 1812 GENERAL BUTLER WAS AIDE DE CAMP TO ANDREW JACKSON. MEXICAN WAR HE WAR MAJOR GENERAL OF THE VOLUNTEERS AND HERO OF THE BATTLE OF MONTEREY. HE WAS THE LAST COMMANDING GENERAL OF THE AMERICAN ARMY IN THE WAR WITH MEXICO.
