The memorial consists of flags from each military branch, State flag, and US flag. Six round aluminum cast plaques of each military branch. A list of all the veterans alive and deceased from the Civil War to the present time from the Butternut area with their name, military branch, and what conflict they fought in. There are over 850 names listed.
Next to the memorial is a mural honoring all veterans. In front of this mural is where the Memorial Day program is held.
Note: The Village of Butternut is in northern Wisconsin and has a population of 375 residents.
