WILLIAM M HARRIS MEDAL OF HONOR WAR MEMORIAL GRAVESTONE
CITATION:
The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Private William M. Harris, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 25 June 1876, while serving with Company D, 7th U.S. Cavalry, in action at Little Big Horn, Montana. Private Harris voluntarily brought water to the wounded under fire of the enemy.
