ABRAHAM LINCOLN SCULPTURE
Statue of President Lincoln.
Originally dedicated in 1918 to The Daughters of the Grand Army of the Republic, this statue of a careworn Lincoln clutching a copy of the Emancipation Proclamation stood for many years near the Veterans Bridge crossing of the Mississippi River in St. Cloud.
In 2016, it was relocated one block West, on a new plaza, at which time it was rededicated to honor all veterans.
On the granite base is an inscription of a phrase from Lincoln's second inaugural address.
THE 6-FOOT-4-INCH STATUE OF LINCOLN HOLDS A SCROLL WITH THE WORDS "PROCLAMATION OF EMANCIPATION" (DECLARING SLAVES SHALL BE FREE) IN HIS LEFT HAND. HE WEARS AN OVERCOAT AND A VEST AND STANDS WITH HIS LEFT FOOT FORWARD
